Reset Biometric / Scan Privacy Policy

Reset Technologies, LLC

Effective July 10, 2026

This Biometric / Scan Privacy Policy explains how Reset Technologies, LLC (“Reset,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information related to the optional camera-based face scan in the Reset app. It supplements Reset’s Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between this policy and the Privacy Policy about scan-related information, this policy controls for scan-related information.

Reset is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you may not use Reset.

THE SHORT VERSION

The scan runs on your device. Reset never receives or stores photos or video of your face, and neither does our scan technology provider. Reset receives only numbers — wellness estimates like heart rate and breathing rate. We don’t sell scan data, we don’t use it for ads, and you can delete it anytime by deleting your account or emailing help@reset.com.

1

Not a Medical Device

Reset is a wellness app. Reset is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

Scan outputs are wellness estimates. They are not medical measurements, clinical findings, or diagnostic results, and they are not a substitute for care from a licensed healthcare professional.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call emergency services immediately. Do not use Reset for emergencies.

2

How the Scan Works

Reset’s optional wellness scan uses your device’s front-facing camera and is powered by the Shen.AI software development kit (“SDK”). The scan uses photoplethysmography (PPG), a camera-based measurement technique that detects subtle changes in the color of the skin on your face caused by blood flow, to estimate certain body signals.

During a scan, the SDK temporarily processes images of your face on your device, in real time, solely to compute scan-derived estimates. When the scan completes, that face data is discarded from device memory.

The scan does not perform facial recognition, does not create a facial recognition template, and cannot be used to identify you.

3

What Reset Receives — and What It Never Receives

What Reset receives. Reset receives only numerical scan-derived estimates and related output fields from the SDK. Depending on the version of the app and enabled features, these may include a heart rate estimate, heart rate variability estimate, breathing rate estimate, stress-related estimate, recovery-related estimate, wellness score, and scan quality indicators.

What Reset never receives. Facial images, raw scan video, facial geometry, and facial mapping data are processed on-device only. They are never transmitted to, received by, or stored on Reset’s servers or Shen.AI’s servers. Scan-derived estimates do not include images of your face and cannot be used to reconstruct an image of your face.

Shen.AI may process limited technical, diagnostic, licensing, or SDK-related information — which does not include face data — as needed to provide, secure, support, or debug the SDK.

4

How Reset Uses Scan-Derived Estimates

Reset uses scan-derived estimates to:

  • Provide the scan feature and show you your results

  • Support your Reset Score and related wellness outputs

  • Personalize meal recommendations, timing suggestions, and explanations

  • Help Ester, Reset’s AI companion, give more relevant wellness guidance

  • Improve, debug, and secure the scan feature and the app

  • Provide customer support and comply with legal obligations

Reset may also use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you to understand product performance and improve the app.

5

What Reset Does Not Do

  • Sell your scan-related information or scan-derived estimates

  • Use scan-related information to target advertising to you

  • Receive or store facial images, raw scan video, facial geometry, or facial recognition data

  • Use the scan to identify you or perform facial recognition

  • Use scan outputs to diagnose or treat medical conditions

  • Use scan outputs for employment, insurance, credit, housing, or eligibility decisions

  • Permit users under 18 to use the scan feature

RESET DOES NOT:

Retention and Deletion

SCAN DATA RETENTION — PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY

Face data is never retained. It is processed transiently on your device during the scan and discarded when processing completes. Reset stores scan-derived estimates while your account is active, and in any event for no longer than 3 years from your last interaction with Reset. If you delete your account, withdraw scan consent, or request deletion, Reset will delete or de-identify your scan-derived estimates sooner, generally within 30 days, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by contacting help@reset.com. You may also request access to or deletion of scan-related information by emailing help@reset.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

If a deletion request involves information processed by a service provider on Reset’s behalf, Reset will take reasonable steps to communicate the request to the applicable service provider where required and technically feasible.

Reset may retain aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

8

Accuracy Limitations

Scan-derived estimates are affected by technical, environmental, and individual factors, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, unavailable, or inconsistent from scan to scan. Factors that can affect accuracy include lighting, movement during the scan, camera and device quality, face position or distance from the camera, hair, hats, glasses, makeup, skin tone, skin conditions, and temporary factors like recent exercise, caffeine, alcohol, illness, or stress.

If a scan result seems surprising or concerning, do not treat it as a medical result. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for health concerns.

9

Biometric and Consumer Health Laws

Some scan-related information may be considered biometric data, consumer health data, or sensitive personal information under certain state laws. Reset uses scan-related information only as described in this policy and Reset’s Privacy Policy, does not sell it, and does not use it for targeted advertising.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or receive a copy of scan-related information, or to withdraw consent. To exercise rights, contact help@reset.com.

Security

Reset uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect scan-related information, including encryption of data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law, such as through the app, by email, or by posting an updated policy. The updated policy will be effective as of the date listed above unless otherwise stated.
